Burt’s Bees Nostalgia Failure

If you know me, I love nostalgia, especially in campaigns, especially when it’s done right. Here’s an example of when it misses the mark.

Why it doesn’t work:
1. Adding a sepia tone over your photos is a lazy way to convey “The “80.’s nostalgia” Technicolor palette, it’s just not enough.
2. Modern items with the company’s branding include vintage tees, bucket hats, and beach towels, it doesn’t feel new or nostalgic.
3. Calling a campaign “Camp Burts” with no actual camping gear is a missed opportunity for fun products, they could done so much more with this, instead this feels flat and uninspiring.
